Times New Roman is a serif font designed by Stanley Morison and Victor Lardent. It came out in 1931 through Monotype. The design was inspired by Plantin, but it was made easier to read and more efficient for use in newspapers.
Times New Roman is a very common font used in digital writing because it is the default font in many word programs and web browsers.
